Extend & Inspire

My strong commitment to teaching is the reason I have chosen to pursue a career as a professor. The most important aspect of teaching is “sincerity”. Students can easily determine how much effort you put into course preparation; if the work you put into a course is sincere, students will sense it. There is no way for a teacher to conceal a lack of effort from his students.

By my philosophy, teaching is not only a process of sharing knowledge but also providing inspiration. Therefore, my primary teaching objectives include 1) extending students’ information sources, and 2) improving students’ critical thinking. The first objective can be thought of as teaching a student how to fish rather than simply handing him a fish. The second objective teaches the student how to cook his fish properly.
